Yorewind is a history course for kids, taught by voice. Many of our listeners are under 13. So we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we never show ads. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
Your child's voice, during a talk. The free lessons and the “Talk to someone from history” tool use the microphone. The sound goes to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, which turns it into text and speaks the answer. The audio is not recorded. ElevenLabs keeps the text of the conversation for 30 days, then deletes it. We tell the AI never to ask for personal information and never to repeat it if a child shares it.
Answers to the stamp check. At the end of a lesson, the text of the child's answers goes to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, through Vercel) to check whether they explained the big idea. We don't store those answers.
A random browser ID.To give each browser one free talk a day, we set a cookie with a random ID that isn't tied to any person. We also count talks per home network using a scrambled (hashed) version of the IP address. We never store the address itself. Both are deleted after 7 days.
A parent's email, if you give it.After a free talk, a grown-up can leave an email and, if they like, their child's grade. We keep these until you ask us to delete them.
Usage counts. We count page visits and a few events, like a talk starting, with Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies or track anyone across sites.
A setting on your device. The lesson player remembers whether you turned captions off. That stays in your browser and never reaches us.
We built Yorewind so kids can use it without giving us personal information. The voice in a talk is used only to understand what the child says, the way typing would be, and it isn't kept. The browser ID only keeps the free tool fair and safe. Only a grown-up should give us an email.
If you think your child shared personal information during a talk, email us at privacy@yorewind.comand we'll have it deleted.
They process data only to run Yorewind for us.
Each browser gets one free talk a day, up to 4 minutes. The people you hear are AI voices playing figures from history. They can get things wrong.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll ask first.
